The Sala Jamboree is the Barcelona temple of jazz par excellence, where great legends and young promises of jazz have played. Figures like Bill Coleman, Kenny Drew, Chet Baker, Ponny Poindexter, Art Farmer, Lou Bennet, Stéphan Grappelli, Kenny Clarke, Cecil Taylor, Elvin Jones, Steve Grossman and Al FosGordon have all been on stage.
All styles are represented, from vanguard to Dixieland passing through bop, fusion, vocal jazz, mainstream, nu-jazz, tango-jazz, flamenco jazz and Latin jazz, without forgetting other Afroamerican styles such as blues and gospel.
This venue is a cultural benchmark of Barcelona, which won the Gold Medal of the city. -

Barcelona has its own Christmas festival that brings culture to the city during the festive season.
The Barcelona Christmas Festival will transform Plaça Catalunya into the epicentre of the performing arts between 20 and 30 December, with a programme that includes music, theatre, dance and circus. There will be a wide variety of proposals ranging from small pieces of visual theatre to a travelling show that will tour the different districts of the city. In the afternoons, dance and circus merge into a unique offer, while in the evenings, music will take centre stage with a varied selection of artists. A unique event for the whole family to enjoy, with performances by renowned Catalan and international companies.

For 27 years now, the Festival del Mil·lenni has been coming to the city and it never disappoints. From October to May, concerts are held throughout the city in various halls, auditoriums and even iconic venues like the Santa Maria del Mar church, all under the Mil·lenni Festival brand. The genres are diverse and varied, but all the concerts share a common denominator: the quality and relevance of the performances. This year the Festival features big international names such as <Suzanne Vega and The Divine Comedy, as well as a selection of major national artists such as Joan Dausà, Gipsy Kings, Carlos Núñez and Natalia Lacunza. The aim: to once again highlight the value of live music and the emotion that stems from direct contact with the audience.

The Tenor Viñas International Singing Contest, one of the most prestigious contests on the international opera scene, celebrates its 63rd edition, as it does every year, at the Gran Teatre del Liceu. Founded in honour of the Catalan tenor Francesc Viñas, the competition carries on his legacy and his wish to promote and support young talents in operatic singing. The final rounds and the winners’ concert offer a unique opportunity to discover the future stars of international opera, as the competition has brought to light many of the leading voices in the global operatic scene.
